A How-to Guide to Cleaning Your Ductless Heat Pump Year-Round

Written by ATL-REFAC Blogging Team | Jun 20, 2022 1:50:25 PM

Your ductless heat pump accumulates dust, dirt, and debris throughout the year.  When running your air-conditioner, humidity and water can pose a problem in the warmer months. In extreme cases, it can lead to mold in your home. However, the solution is not a DIY procedure, as the tools required and experience needed to provide a safe, effective clean is best handled by our expert team at ATL-REFAC.

What specific steps do our technicians take to ensure your pump's health and safety during a deep clean?

INSTALL A SPLASH BIB

The bib creates a plastic, protective barrier against the wall and other surroundings so an effective cleaning can be done.

APPLY COIL CLEANER TO THE MACHINE

To remove dirt and dust between coils and ensure efficient running, a foaming coil cleaner is sprayed onto the machine.

SPRAY COIL TO REMOVE DIRT AND GRIME

After the cleaner sits for a few minutes, it is sprayed off. The plastic bib holds the water that travels down the machine, out the bottom, and into a bucket.

SPRAY BARREL FAN AND BACK OF UNIT

Dirt and muck accumulated in the heat pump must be removed. So a thorough cleaning of the barrel fan and behind the fan is performed.

GET RID OF THE MESS!

Since all the debris and dirt went into the bucket, it keeps your area nice and clean. So it is disposed of when the cleaning is completed. You may be surprised at the amount that has amassed, which emphasizes why it is essential that this cleaning be done regularly by professionals.
